Located at 18 Monnow Street, near the corner of St John's Street. A Monmouth Civic Society blue plaque on the building records that the defences of Monmouth's first century (AD) fort lie under the building, at right angles to the street. The fort predated the Roman settlement of Blestium. UPDATE Rebranded Lloyds Bank http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4220349 in September 2013.
