The 13th century stone castle keep is set upon its 70ft high motte, situated in Clare Country Park, and accessible via a winding footpath. It overlooks the town as well as its inner and outer baileys. The inner bailey contains the former Clare railway station > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2072125 and the goods yard, which operated for over 100 years, with the goods shed > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2072121 now housing the visitor centre and railway displays.
