This full-size replica of the Revd Garrett's 1879 steam powered submarine has been moved slightly since earlier photographs Image The informative brass plaque contains a glaring error that my four colleagues with assorted science degrees could not spot - it states that the original weighed 330 tons. In reality it was around 30 tons. Resurgam and several other steam powered submarines were non-too-successful but were merely well ahead of their time. Today's steam powered nuclear submarines generally work well without drowning or cooking their crew.
