Built around the turn of the 20th century, the J shed (as its name suggests) was one of many warehouses named sequentially by letters of the alphabet. All were built without longevity in mind - but many survived until the Second World War. J Shed is the only one that survived that. Comparatively recently the building was left empty and almost became derelict when architects Powell Dobson were commissioned to convert it into Wales' first mixed business/residence building, where any unit could be either a business or a home. P.D. liked the location so much that they leased the southern end 2 units and converted it into their own custom designed Swansea based office space.
