Pitfichie Castle was built by the Hurry family in the 16th century, but was sold soon after to John Cheyne of Fortrie, and then passed to the Forbes of Monymusk in the 17th century. It was unroofed in the 18th century and parts of it collapsed in the early 20th century. It has since been restored.
