Trent & Mersey Canal and the Lion Salt Works

Two narrowboats are moored just south east of bridge 193 at Marston outside the old Lion Salt Works. These works were the last open pan salt works in Cheshire but closed in 1986 following the collapse of its West African market. However, the works are now in the process of restoration more details of which are available at: http://www.lionsaltworkstrust.co.uk/index.asp .
