The motorcycle here was manufactured in 1922. It is a Triumph with a 550 cc engine and Sturmey-Archer gears. I should have taken a photo of the information board accompanying this venerable machine but from memory it spent many years forgotten in a barn somewhere until it was discovered by the present owner, seen here riding it, sometime before 1981, the date it was first registered according to the DVLA. Unlike some concours restorations this machine was sensitively restored to more or less original condition in 1994. Many examples of machines like this served in the Great War in the hands of dispatch riders. A joy to see. It is taxed until February 2011.
