The South Wales East regional office of the Welsh Conservatives is located on Church Road. The current Conservative member of the Welsh Assembly for the region is Mohammad Asghar. He was elected to the Assembly in 2007 as a Plaid Cymru member. In December 2009 he left the party to join the Welsh Conservatives. He is the first ethnic minority and Muslim member of the Assembly. The premises were previously occupied by a PC repairs and support business. On the right is Baguette, selling baguettes, sandwiches and other snacks.
