The train hauled by locomotive number 44932 has just passed Attleborough and is approaching Spooner Row, on its way to Norwich from London Kings Cross via Cambridge and Ely. Locomotives of this type are commonly known as Black Fives. They were built for LMS (London Midland and Scottish Railway) by William Stanier, who introduced them in 1934. Until 1951 altogether 842 locomotives of this type were built and some survived to the last day of steam on British Railways in 1968. Eighteen are preserved. 44932 is owned by West Coast Railways (West Coast Railway Company), a railway spot-hire company and charter train operator based at Carnforth in Lancashire on the site of the old Steamtown heritage depot.
