NCN6 uses this road from the A591 into the village, here crossing the Kendal-Windermere railway. Stephen Craven tells me that before the A591 trunk road (Staveley bypass) was built, closure of this crossing would cause long tailbacks on what was then the main Kendal-Windermere road.
