Public house on the bank of the River Isis (Thames), from Image The pub gets its name from the finish of the college bumping races held here during "Eights Weeks in May". In these races, crews of eight oarsmen race in procession, trying to catch and bump the boat in front and thus move up to take the title "head of the river".
