To mitigate the effect of the 2008 post office closures, in some villages a mobile office visits once a week, such as this one, called the Pembroke Mobile, seen here at its Friday morning (9 till 10) slot at St. Florence. Inside, the counter offers a full range of post office services. The location is outside the village shop, which may well have been where the permanent post office had been, and there is a postbox just visible by the van's wing mirror.
