Route of the Basingstoke Canal

This depression, now used by people as an extension of their back gardens, is the route of the former Basingstoke Canal. Although it is running north-east here it is actually heading towards Basingstoke, making a large loop around Old Basing following level ground and a route past Basing House. This section will not be restored because it has been severed by the M3.
