The Swannington village sign was designed by Isabel Lyman and erected in 1997. The weather vane shows a locomotive pulling two coal wagons. The carved hardwood panels outside depict village scenes, with coal mining on the panel facing the photographer. Inside is a map of the village with brief explanations of places of interest.
