Folded strata at Trwyn Crou

A stream has cut a deep trench into the coastal headland at Trwyn Crou. Looking across the trench, the folding of the rock strata can be seen on the lower left side. The inclined limb of the fold is overlaid by more recent rocks which are dipping to a much lesser extent (top right). This top layer is sandy and has been eroded by a stream. Once a cut was established, erosion could continue in the harder layers below. (Health warning - this is my interpretation, but I'm no geologist. If you know better, please let me know.)
