The new dual carriageway A249 bridge across the Swale to the Isle of Sheppey was opened to traffic in June 2006 but there is still some tidying up to do on the construction site. These pipes supported the piers around the concrete stanchions while they were being constructed. See close-up http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/201141
