Milestone on the eastern side of the Newry Road, on the town side of the cemetery. McCutcheon’s “Industrial Archaeology of Northern Ireland” refers to them being “erected by the County-at-large around 1810 on the great mail coach route between Dublin and Belfast” and shows an illustration of this one Image The distance plate is missing but, if they are contemporary, then the distances would, most likely, have been in Irish miles Image Image (September 2012) shows the one on the Dromore Road.
