View of this new build which sits on the site of the original lifeboat house which was here from 1862-1892 after which the boathouse and slipway were moved to the Torrs Shore in 1892. The boat had to be hauled on a carriage down to the quayside and to get out to casualties, the lifeboat had to be rowed often for three miles or more usually against the tide and wind.
