This former cinema has been a Netto store for a number of years now, and prior to that the store has traded under various names - I first recall it in the late 70s being a branch of the Burnley based Moneysave Supermarket chain. The cinema was built in 1920 and opened early in February 1921 and was known as the Hillsborough Park Cinema, with the actual Hillsborough Park being a few hundred yards off picture to the right. It closed as a Star Cinema in October 1967 and re-opened as Star Bingo a few days later. Image Image ... Following the takeover of Netto by Asda, in August 2011 this store was converted again ... see Image ... What next ... Tesco - possibly, Waitrose - no chance!
