Originally built in 1717 the mill was rebuilt in 1825 following a serious fire. The pitchback wheel is 33 feet diameter and is among the largest in the country. The mill closed in 1959 and the wheel was restored to turning condition in 2004 when the recirculating pumps were started. The launder has been lost so the wheel now turns on pumped water.
