On Saturday 7th August 2010, in a marquee behind Innerwick Public Hall, the Innerwick Horticultural Society held the 137th Flower, Vegetable and Fruit Show ("the oldest Show in the county"). For a brief hour or so one could forget about the appalling mess the country is in - financial crisis, budget cuts, disappearing pensions, looming public sector job cuts and the economic misery to come - and just marvel at the quiet skill and dedication of those who can grow perfect vegetables.
