The fungus is growing under beech trees. In the past five days it has flattened from a ball into a low dome. The underside, which has pores, has changed from orangy-red to brown having gone through a khaki colour stage (another nearby reveals this colour stage). Identified with the assistance of Geograph members as boletus appendiculatus. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1992909
