This manufactory dates to the early 1860s although carrying a date of 1907 on a beam over the large door - this probably relates to a rebuilding. Although probably originally fitted with a beam engine, by the 1890s the power was provided by a horizontal single cylinder steam engine 16" x 36" and developing 67 horsepower at 65.5 rpm. It would appear this was used for cotton weaving.
