Former tramway to the Aston plaster pits

This footpath is on the line of a tramway or railway built in 1811 to carry gypsum from the plaster pits at Brickyard Plantation (in the background, to the left) to a wharf on the Trent and Mersey Canal. It was later extended to other pits around Aston and continued to operate until some time before the First World War.
