At Fort Matilda, viewed from the viewpoint at Lyle Hill. The factory originally extended all the way to the right of the photo in the area where the modern houses are now standing. The factory was the first home of IBM in Scotland when they opened a typewriter factory there in 1951 before moving to Spango Valley. IBM had a presence at Fort Matilda until the late 1980s. The complex is now occupied by an indoor play area and a confectionery factory. Fort Matilda railway station and footbridge are in the lower centre of the photo.
