There used to be an old water pump near the milk churn stand by this road until the late 1960s or early 1970s. The water pump has long gone but the milk churn stand shaded by trees, remains as a reminder of how milk was kept cool before the days of milk collection by refrigerated lorries. The churns full of milk were collected by lorry, daily, from the stand to be taken to the dairy.
