The Erith Alps

A humorous nickname for a stretch of the Thames path which goes up and over a working jetty on the Thames near Erith. With a gradient of at least 1:6 each side it poses a challenge for cyclists (especially since they put a barrier at each end that stops you getting a run at it!) [edit: when I rode the route again in 2011 the barriers had been removed, making it easier to ride up.]
