An unusual sign in Doyce Street, Southwark Image on the rear wall of the Welsh Congregational Church Image One wonders how effective it was in stopping whatever "nuisance" people had been committing! (Another contributor has suggested it may have been a euphemism for "do not urinate against the wall"). The other curiosity here is what appears to be a doorway, its threshold several feet above the pavement. Another contributor (Dave Hitchborne) has suggested that it may be shutters over a window opening, the "nuisance caused", being broken windows.
