This is leaning against the fence in a front garden on the lane down to Womack Water. I was too chicken to saunter across the garden to read the notice beside the propeller, but it looks faded anyway. Possibly something to do with the airfield to the north of the village, which, as the nearest airfield to the coast, was designated as an emergency landing site for American bombers returning from sorties over Europe and therefore saw its share of crash landings. Update summer 2009: the propeller has gone.
