Malvern's third medical hospital is nearly finished, but who will perform the opening ceremony? Our newly elected MP, Harriet Baldwin has invited the Prime Minister, David Cameron, but local voices have suggested Mrs Pat Merrick who has campaigned for over 30 years for this to be built. Malvern's first medical hospital was built in 1868 Image to be followed by the one built by C.W. Dyson Perrins (of Worcester Sauce fame) in 1911. Image The latter is now used as a community hospital. For at least the last 40 years (since I came to Malvern) locals had to travel to Worcester, over the river Severn, to seek hospital treatment so all are looking forward to this easily accessible facility.
