This police box at Morton Street is one of the few in the city to remain of its original colouring & in its location as used by the police. Before the days of portable radios and mobile phones police patrolling their beat clocked in at these boxes where there was a phone. Also a flashing blue light above the box alerted police to call in to the police office since they were required to attend to some matter locally. A number of other existing boxes have been converted to sell coffee or ice cream & painted in garish colours.
