Here the former branch line from Thornhill Junction to Heckmondwike crosses the busy A644. The disused railway track is now the Spen Valley Greenway, a Sustrans cycle route. The link to the newly created Dewsbury section of the Calder Valley Greenway comes down between the grassy slope and the fence on the right, and across the new traffic lights provided for cyclists and pedestrians using the route.
