Looking south along Platform 3, it can be seen that the release roads between the platforms have been lifted, allowing a profusion of weeds to grow. A First Trans-Pennine Express train stands in Platform 4, whence it will shortly depart for Glasgow Central. This station is the former L&Y station in Bolton, which formerly bore the suffix (Trinity Street) to distinguish it from the LNWR station at Bolton (Great Moor Street), closed long ago and of which an excellent photograph by Bob Brooksbank is seen at Image
