Although urban explorers have been here, this was an official visit to gather information to pass onto parties that may be able to help preserve some of the machinery on board the last known LST (3). Built in Canada in 1945, Stalker has two 2750 horsepower four cylinder inverted vertical triple expansion engines that are about 22' long and 14' high. This is the port engine room looking aft with the main engine to the left. The reversing engine and its manual operating wheel are dead centre. The big shaft and linkage top left is the reversing weigh-shaft that operates four sets of Stephenson link gear. Valve events could be adjusted with the long bolt in the diagonal slot that is just left of centre. On the right are the surface condenser (top) and the circulating pump and its engine (bottom). It is believed this plant has been idle for over 60 years but it is in remarkably good condition.
