Such is the strength of Morningside's reputation from the Victorian-Edwardian period as the posh part of Edinburgh, that it is traditionally made the butt of humour at Edinburgh Christmas pantomimes, even though much of the wealth has long since moved out to the more modern suburbs of the city. It is also easy to forget that a lot of Morningside consists of modest streets like this one.
