View westward, probably from Market St. Bridge; ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire, Bolton - Bury - Rochdale line, connecting (just beyond the platforms visible) with the Manchester - Bury (Bolton St.) line; the lines on the left are the former loop towards Manchester via Radcliffe Bridge. The line from Bolton was closed on 5/68, on to Rochdale on 5/1/70, but the heritage East Lancashire Railway have recently restored a service from Bury (Bolton St.) towards Rochdale as far as Heywood. [I am open to correction here, as I am unfamiliar with the area].
