Bombed in 1940 and restored by Pinckney & Gott, it re-opened in 1955 (Pevsner,N/Lloyd,D "The Buildings of England- Hampshire and the Isle of Wight": Penguin, Harmondsworth, 1967, 2nd edn 1973 ISBN 0140710329).
