Established here by John Meredith in 1820, the foundry's products can be seen all over the area in the form of farm and country house gates and iron kerbs. The ironwork on the Market Hall in Upper Cross was made here. Meredith was a major stakeholder in the Kington Tramway, built to supply raw materials to his foundry. The trackbed still exists and features prominently in 'History and Landscape - 12 country walks for the family and its dog' by Sinclair and Fenn, available from Castle Hill Books.
