Castle Hills is supposed to have several man-made earthworks: a ridge across the middle of this field is supposed to be part of a bailey. A bronze-age spear was found somewhere near here some centuries ago and when the railway line was put through just the other side of the hill some Roman coins were found. Personally, I'm yet to be convinced.
