These new apartments appeared to be nearing completion, when photographed in June 2010. They were being built by Somerset Housing UK Limited, on behalf of Midland Heart Housing Association. The apartments comprise 16 two bedroom 3 person apartments for general needs, and will be available for rent. Somerset Housing claim to be an ecologically friendly company, and to embrace modern methods of construction. Prior to construction, on the site stood the strangely named Minnesota Fats snooker hall. This building which dated from 1914, has of course been demolished. Here is a photo of it taken in December 2008, when it had already ceased to be used as a snooker hall. Image
