The grade-2-listed farmhouse at Old Hall is of 19th century construction, possibly based on an earlier building. There was certainly an Old Hall in existence in the 18th century when one Captain 'Ironstone' Smith lived there and made a fortune from the mineral wealth in the surrounding land.
