These cyclists are taking part in the cycle event during Melrose Festival week 2010. It was inaugurated in 2001 when the festival ride out was cancelled due to the foot and mouth outbreak and it has been a fixture during festival week for the past nine years. Over 600 cyclists of all ages participated in a five mile route from Gibson Park in Melrose to Newstead, then back to Melrose crossing the Chain Bridge over The River Tweed to Gattonside and returning to the town via Darnick.
