You would not imagine that this is a trunk road. It is a shopping street, with consideration quite rightly given to pedestrians. There are frequently vehicles turning into and out of side streets, and consequently long queues of traffic at peak times. Not much chance of a bypass in the present financial climate, and it would be difficult to find a route that did not ruin the countryside to the south.
