This is an example of a former A classified road that has been downgraded to a B classification road. This has happened due to demands further along the road in Langford for traffic calming. Historically Bedfordshire County Council have never sought to introduce calming measures on A class roads, so the solution was to downgrade the road and this happened, after the Council had applied to the Government Office for the Eastern Region, with effect from 15 May 2009.
