This view over the gate next to the church shows the southern end of the five-furlong gallop belonging to the trainer Derek Shaw. The paddocks and gallops are on the reclaimed land which was from 1921-61 the deep Sproxton No 1 ironstone quarry, which extended as far east as the trees in the distance and as far south as the Skillington road.
