The Armagh Observatory was founded in 1790 by Archbishop Richard Robinson in an attempt to create a university in Armagh. It is still going strong today and is an important research facility in the UK with around 25 astronomers based here. See http://star.arm.ac.uk/index.html for more information. The Armagh Planetarium Image is sited in the same grounds, but the two should not be confused.
