No information, so no idea what their purpose is, although there was a Rentokil tanker on the site, so I suppose it is waste treatment of some sort. Thanks to Peter McDermott who has suggested that they are associated with extracting liquor from the Foot & Mouth burial site in Birkshaw Forest during the 2001 outbreak. It is the only mass burial site in Scotland, and there are varying reports about its size - the company that laid the membrane says 75 x 30m and 15m deep, to take 45000 sheep and cattle https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=cr&ei=0-e4VbCQBIqvU4S0kAg#q=birkshaw+foot+and+mouth , while a BBC News report says 110 x 16m and 6m deep, and could hold 250000 animals http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/1244971.stm .
