Previously known as St. Thomas of Canterbury. This is the third church to occupy the site. The original was called St. Thomas the Martyr and existed from around the 15th century (references to it can be found in the records of St. Albans Abbey). A second church replaced the first in 1810 but was destroyed by fire in 1881. The current church was built in 1882 to a design by Charles Kirk & Sons of Sleaford by John Bentley of Waltham Abbey.
