Passenger services on the railway branch line to Haddington ceased in December 1949 and the line was permanently closed in March 1968. Buses and taxis are the only forms of public transport available to the residents of Haddington, the former county town of the long gone Haddingtonshire and the current administrative centre of East Lothian. Perryman's service 253, shown here, operates between Edinburgh and Berwick-Upon-Tweed and provides a useful link between rural East Lothian and the seaward small towns of Berwickshire such as Coldingham, St Abbs and Eyemouth.
