The convent buildings are associated with the 15th century chapel of St Francis, which was restored in 1896 by the architect John Kinross at the expense of the Marquess of Bute for the Sisters of Mercy, who had acquired the buildings in 1891. Both the chapel and the convent are Category A Listed Buildings.
